Culture Days in Alberta happens as part of the province-wide Alberta Culture Days celebration of arts and culture. We promoted Open Streets on CTV News prior to the event.
Open Streets participated at the kick off block party of Calgary Culture Days at Olympic Plaza on September 25 from 3:30-8pm. . The event had an array of interactive art workshop and fun activities such as pottery, film making, photography, silkscreen, dance demonstrations and musical performances.
Culture Days raises the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Open Streets takes the opportunity that arts and cultural sector makes a vital contribution to the economic and social development and contributes to the overall health of the society.
Open Streets highlights were free hot chocolate for pedal powering the FenderBlenderGenerator bicycle to generate electricity to power the projector showing the Calgary Public Art as compiled by the City of Calgary. Bubbles maker and foosball enjoyed by the people of all ages and photo booth was managed by our volunteers from Youth Central.
The Good Life Bicycle also hosted a Show and Shine Bicycle Contest and the prize goes to the bicycle that was customized and made with ship pallet material!
